Frequently Asked Questions

Question: How much does the Fan Vote count in determining
the 2012 Davey O’Brien Winner?

Answer: 5%! The Davey O’Brien Fan Vote will count for 5% of the overall vote during each of the three voting rounds (Semifinalists, Finalists, Winner). Voting totals are cleared after each round. The rest of the vote is determined by the National Selection Committee, which is composed of national sportswriters and commentators/analysts, as well as former Davey O’Brien winners. We ask the Selection Committee to evaluate each candidate on the following criteria: quarterback skills/athletic ability, academics, reputation as a team player, character, leadership and sportsmanship.

Question: How do I apply for the Davey O’Brien High School Scholarship?

Answer: The scholarship is available for high school senior student-athletes in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Specifically, students must attend a public or private school in one of the following counties: Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Rockwall, Tarrant or Wise. The Foundation will only accept one application per high school.
